I've just replied in another of your thread where you mentioned it.

I stopped work as I didn't think the number of users and members justified the time it was or would take to finish off and then support.
If you are a Windows user I could send you a copy to see what you think.

Windows User, yes...

if it is functional, and not too much trouble, yes...

I have pulled this baby off shelf, will use it till it dies, and I love my investment still, thanks for keeping up the groove..

need my email, PM me...

and a question, if this can be asked here... will it be a problem for the pacemaker device itself if I go in and edit ID3 tags on the device? I put a lot of tracks on there with improper id3's and now sorting is just crap... any problems, you think, if I load a song (the 0-9 folders on device) and then fix id3 tags of the mp3's on the device itself? anxious to get up to 110% of awesome.

I've have a look see if I can finish off the bit of support I was last working on (extracting copies of files already on the Pacemaker).
I shouldn't need your email, unless you use a different one to the one you registered here with, though I may just release it to all through this forum.

The music files on the device itself are renamed to have numeric filenames. Assuming you can determine which file is which track, then I guess you could use a tag editor to change the tag information of these tracks. However I don't think the mp3 tag information is used by the device. I am only guessing here based on my poking around but I think the way it works is:
- Add a file to editor and during analysis the mp3 tag information is imported to the editor's database
- Copy a track from editor to device and the information on the track is copied over to the device's database
- Edit track information within the editor and only the information in the associated (editor or device) DB is changed

So I don't think the device uses mp3 tag info at all, it uses the info in the DB. If you want to change track info you can do this from within the editor. If you have lots of tracks this could be a long job though. I learnt some time ago to ensure that all the mp3 tag info is there in the original track, before I even add it to the editor, then add to the device.

Perhaps changing the info within the editor is what you meant all along. But whether that is in the editors of the Pacemaker's tracks/DB, I don't think it will actually change the mp3 tag info in the music file itself, just change the DB. You can also use a 3rd party SQLite tool for editing the DB directly (see the Developers section for details on the DB).

EDIT: I just did some tests and found that
- When you change the mp3 tag information of a music file on the device, this is not seen in the track entry for the device in the editor (and I assume it would be the same when viewed from within the device)
- The editor does NOT allow you to change the track info of a track on the device
- The editor WILL however allow you to change the track info of a track in your editor library, which presumably you can then re-sync back onto your device.

Thanks for the id3 info.

seems like once it's ON DEVICE, it's not changeable.

your PMExplorer rocks.

thank you so much.
