I have tracks on my PMD that is not on the editor.
How can I transfer these tracks to the editor and my pc . In the device hardrive there is a music folder with tracks but the tracks are not by name but by numbers eg : 621da4eb
I have recorded a mix but cannot transfer to the editor due to tracks that are missing on editor.

Re: transferring tracks from PMD to PME
Yes PMExplorer can help retrieve tracks from the device back onto PC, but it doesn't make any attempts to ensure the track retrieved is put back into the database. It could be made to but doesn't
If you wanted to retrieve tracks so you had a copy on the PC, and could use them at a later date, I would od as CharlieGate suggests which is retrieve to PC, then re-add them to the library. Once retrieve d you might want to remove them from the device before re-adding, ekse you could end up with two copies.
However since you effectively want to repair a mix that is broken because you removed the original files, the above won't help. Do you have the tracks still in your editor's database, not not actually on the PC? If so then PMExplorer can help:
a) Identify which tracks are missing (use the "Check For Problems" feature
b) Retrieve the tracks from the PMD (not necessarily to the original location)
So you could do (a) and (b) above, then move the retrieve track(s) to their original location (which is expected to be found by the mix). However I've just realised my app doesn't show you this info.
I'll see what I can do to improve it without spending a whole load of time on it.......

Re: transferring tracks from PMD to PME
Gonna dl the explorer myself now. Bought myself a 120gb back up PMD which has 54gb of music on it!
Re: transferring tracks from PMD to PME
I had a look at this and the original filename of the track and the original location on disk is not stored in the PMD's database. It is normally held in the PC's database. Consequently there is no way to restore exactly the original filepath & filename from only the information in the PMD's database. If you had the tracks in your editor DB, but the files could not be found (since deleted or moved), then I could probably ammend PMExplorer to help out.
However if the tracks are not even if your editor DB, then although I reckon it could be done, it would take more effort than I am prepared to put in. Sorry
Currently
- PMExplorer wil lshow you what's missing (PC or PMD), but only by comparing with the database entries.
- PMExplorer will help retrieve files from the PMD and will put them where you specify using a folder & filename convention indicated by you.
- This will help Charliegate get 54Gb of free music, which he can then deleted from the PMD and re-add to both the editor and the PMD (and they will be in sync)
- Unfortunately this will not help you recover your mix
